To help new parents, cancer patients, and survivors, and LGBTQ+ community, India’s largest tech giant Tech Mahindra has announced that it has added a new initiative to its Diversity & Inclusion (D&I) policy which aimed at supporting employees from the LGBTQ+ community.
The company in its statement said that “As a part of the new policy, the company would grant more time for its employees in the first year of parenthood by allowing more flexibility in its ‘Work from home,’ and 12 weeks paid adoption leave for the same-sex couples.” “Whereas, Bereavement leave of three days will also be granted to same-sex partners,” it added.
Adding to the statement, the company said, “The groups for employees like new parents, cancer patients, survivors and fitness and lifestyle group are also being created.”
“Besides these, the LGBT communities called Kaleidoscope have been formed across the geographies, to share stories of community members to the larger audience, and to create culture assimilation and sensitize people,” the company said.
Speaking more on the initiatives, Harshvendra Soin, Chief People Officer at Tech Mahindra, said: “As a company with a purpose, Tech Mahindra is excited to embark on this transformational journey of empowering our associates by keeping their needs foremost.”
“Tech Mahindra is also in the process of adding a gamification element to the ‘Diversity and Inclusion,’ training to create a seamless and immersive experience for all employees,” the company said..
