In an interview with BMW, Chief Executive, Harald Krueger at Los Angeles Auto Show, he said that “the company is planning for second U.S. manufacturing plant which could produce engines and transmissions parts for BMW.”
Currently, the company already has a manufacturing plant in southern California and having the second plant will allow the company to manufacture more auto parts for BMW inside the U.S. rather than importing them from outside the country.
The plan of having a second manufacturing plant in the U.S. by the company had come at a time. When reports stated that “The U.S. President Trump is planning to impose tariffs on imported cars from next week.”
