The Union Health Ministry on Saturday said, “India will launch its COVID-19 vaccination drive on 16 January 2020.”

The Union Health Ministry in its press released said, “The decision was taken after a detailed review, it was decided that in a view of the forthcoming festivals including Lohri, Makar Sankranti, Pongal, Magh Bihu, the vaccination will drive from 16 January.”
“Priority will be first given to the healthcare and frontline workers, followed by those above 50 years of age, and under 50 population groups with co-morbidities numbering group around 27 crores,” the statement said.
