Reid Hoffman, the celebrity venture capitalist, has opined that his biggest investment is directed towards Stripe Inc. As each year passes by, it becomes easier to tell why missing out on payment startups might sting so badly, Hoffman adds further.
Recently, Stripe has raised $245 million in funding that has upped its evaluation from $9 billion to $20 billion. With this Stripe Inc has added big names to its clientele such as Google and Uber Technologies.
While the funding is modest as per the industry standards, however, the $20 billion figure has placed Stripe Inc. among the elite handful of the most valuable startups that includes Airbnb Inc., Palantir Technologies Inc. as well as Uber.
Stripe’s investor list includes Tiger Global Management and DST Global. “The fact that they didn’t need to raise billions of dollars speaks to the quality of the business,” remarked Lee Fixel, a partner at Tiger Global.
