In a bid to curb the fake news circulation, and to bring more transparency in the digital media space, the Union Government on February 25, proposed its new draft on Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rule 2021 for social media, OTT platforms, and Digital media.

Addressing the press here in New Delhi, Ravi Shankar Prasad said, “We have not framed any new law. We have framed these rules under the existing IT Act.”
