Rahul Gandhi hits on Central Govt over ‘no record’ of farmers death

“The PM Narendra Modi led Indian Government has no record of 750 farmers who died during the agitation of three farm laws ”, said Senior Congress Leader, Rahul Gandhi during the press meets in New Delhi.

In a response to a question asked to the Agriculture Ministry, whether the government will provide financial assistance to the kin of the farmers who died during the protests.

The Ministry in its response said that “As it has no record in a matter, the question does not arise.”

To which quoting the Farmer Welfare Ministry response, Rahul Gandhi said, “We have a list of 405 farmers to whom, Punjab Government has compensated Rs 5 lakh each and offered 152 jobs to kins of farmers who died during the protest.”

“We have a list of 500 farmers, with their name, and addresses and rest names are in the public domain. The Government can verify the details and compensate them,” he added.

“The PM himself has said that he has made a mistake, he has apologized to the nation. As a result of that mistake, 700 people have died. Now you are lying about their names,” he further added
