Coronavirus Update: Saudi Arabia suspends visas for Mecca’s visit

The Government of Saudi Arabia on Thursday said that “It has suspended the visas for the pilgrims who are wishing to visit Mecca.”

The foreign ministry in its statement said, “The Government has decided to suspend the entry to the kingdom for Umrah and visit the prophet’s mosque temporarily.”

Adding to the statement, the ministry further said, “The tourist visa would be suspended for those coming from the countries in which the spread of the Coronavirus (COVID-19) is a danger, and has requested the citizen to avoid the travel.”

The statement from the ministry has come at the time when millions of devout Muslims from all over the world visit to Mecca on umrah.
