One of India’s largest biopharmaceutical company Biocon Limited on Friday announced the appointment of Christiane Hamacher as the CEO of Biocon Biologics India Limited.
In a filing at BSE, Biocon said that “The company has appointed Christiane Hamacher as the CEO of Biocon Biologics India Ltd, a fully owned subsidiary of Biocon Limited.”
“Hamacher has the experience of more than 20 years of leadership experience in both strategic and operational roles across the value chain in global pharma spanning Asia, Europe, and the US,” the company added.
The company in its filing also added that “During her tenure in the pharmaceutical industry, Hamacher has developed strong expertise in the areas like oncology, virology, CNS, Cardiovascular, gynecology, diagnostics, dermatology, rheumatology, and rare disease.”
Talking on the Hamacher’s appointment, The Biocon chairman and MD Kiran Mazumdar Shaw said that “Christiane has joined the company at a very critical inflection point in the business as we build our stature in the large and growing opportunity for biosimilar biologics, and I’m really confident that her expertise will lead the company to become the major global player in the near future.”
Kiran added, “As being a woman leader, I believe that she will also bring a diversity perspective which is integral to our leadership journey.”
