India’s largest state-run telecom company BSNL has announced the partnership with Nokia, “In an aim to market and deploy smart poles that will detect pollution levels.”
Talking at India Mobile Congress (IMC) BSNL Chairman and Managing director Anupam Shrivastava said “BSNL has signed an agreement with Nokia to jointly market and deploy smart poles across India. These smart poles will detect the pollution level of air pollution and alert the concerned office timely to take action on it.”
“BSNL has initially purchased 50 smart poles worth of RS 46 lakh per unit, and this smart poles will also work as mobile towers, wifi hotspot, street lighting, and surveillance,” Anupam said.
Adding to this Anupam said, “BSNL and Nokia both are in talk with municipal corporations for deployment of the smart poles.”
