New Delhi, India: Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan said the government has released 68,393.67 crore rupees to states and Union Territories under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the current financial year 2025-26.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the minister said 57,853.62 crore rupees has been allocated for the wage component, while 10,540.05 crore rupees has been earmarked for material and administrative expenses.
He added that wage payments under the scheme are credited directly to beneficiaries’ accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer system.
