The next-generation PocketCloud (model: PA100 Pro) portable NAS from StationPC has officially been unveiled, following its launch on June 30, 2026. Positioned as a major upgrade in the portable storage category, it brings a new level of flexibility and performance to mobile users.

For photographers and content creators, the PA100 Pro introduces a significant upgrade: an integrated CFexpress Type-B card slot. This addition dramatically improves professional workflows by enabling direct, high-speed offloading of large photo and video files from cameras. Combined with SSD storage, it creates an efficient pipeline from capture to backup to archival—ideal for field production, travel shooting, and studio environments.

A NAS is no longer a niche tool reserved for professionals—it has become an essential part of modern digital life in 2026. As cloud storage platforms continue raising subscription costs while also facing growing concerns around data privacy, AI training usage, and targeted advertising, more users are rethinking where and how their data is stored. Relying entirely on large-scale cloud services is no longer the default choice. A NAS restores ownership and control, keeping photos, videos, and important files truly private while remaining instantly accessible.

Unlike subscription-based cloud storage services that rely on recurring fees and may raise concerns around data privacy, transfer limitations, and external server dependency, the PA100 Pro offers a one-time purchase local storage solution with no ongoing charges. It keeps photos, videos, and sensitive files securely stored under full user control, reducing reliance on third-party data handling and minimizing risks associated with data collection or service disruptions. With stable high-speed transfers of up to 1000Mbps, performance is no longer constrained by internet bandwidth or network conditions.

The system also supports seamless private synchronization across multiple devices, enabling a smooth and consistent workflow whether at home, in the studio, or on the move. Thanks to its built-in battery, it operates fully offline when needed, making it suitable for both indoor and outdoor scenarios.

Designed for creators and privacy-focused users, the PA100 Pro delivers a faster, more secure, and more flexible alternative to traditional cloud-based storage platforms across all usage environments.

At the core of the PA100 Pro is its proven split-storage architecture, refined from the previous generation. Instead of changing the concept, this release focuses on optimizing performance and improving overall workflow efficiency between the portable module and the home dock.

The PA100 Pro supports M.2 NVMe 2280 SSDs with exFAT formatting, delivering performance that far surpasses traditional external drives.USB drive mode performance up to 1067 MB/s and SSD read speeds up to 1625 MB/s—enabling rapid transfers of large 4K video files, RAW photo libraries, and high-resolution media projects in seconds.

A common misconception is that NAS systems are only designed for offices, IT environments, or professional studios. In reality, NAS technology is evolving into a personal infrastructure layer. It functions as a private cloud that lives with you, rather than in distant data centers. There are no recurring subscription fees, and users maintain full ownership and control of their data.

With the PA100 Pro, this idea expands further. It is not just a storage device, but a personal media and workflow hub. Users can host their own media libraries, stream content across devices, and manage digital assets without relying on third-party platforms or constant internet connectivity.

Running on StationOS with the StationCloud app, the system integrates seamlessly with media platforms such as Plex, enabling users to build a fully personalized streaming experience. Movies, TV shows, music, and personal media collections become instantly accessible across devices, creating a private entertainment ecosystem available anytime.

For mobile photo management, the dedicated app delivers a gallery experience comparable to mainstream cloud services. Photos are automatically organized, with AI-assisted grouping by faces, scenes, and events, making large libraries easy to navigate. Sharing albums with family or collaborators is also supported within the NAS ecosystem.

Under the hood, the PA100 Pro is powered by a quad-core Cortex-A55 processor (RK3568B2), paired with a Mali-G52 GPU and 2GB of LPDDR4 RAM. While not positioned as an enterprise-grade server, it is optimized for efficient portable performance, handling file management, synchronization, and media streaming smoothly.

Connectivity is equally comprehensive, featuring USB-A and USB-C ports (both supporting 10Gbps), SD card support, Bluetooth 5.4, and Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), offering faster, more stable wireless performance and a more efficient workflow for professional imaging and mobile users.

Portability is reinforced by a built-in 23.04Wh battery, delivering several hours of active use and extended standby time. This makes it suitable for travel, on-location production, and mobile workflows without constant access to power. When needed, USB-C PD fast charging quickly restores battery levels.

Durability has also been carefully considered. The PA 100 Pro is built using ABS plastic, PC materials, and aluminum alloy, striking a balance between lightweight portability and structural strength. It is designed to withstand the demands of mobile creators, whether in outdoor environments, transit, or flexible workspaces.

Despite its local-first philosophy, the PA 100 Pro still supports optional cloud integration, allowing users to selectively sync data while keeping sensitive files stored locally. This hybrid approach offers flexibility without compromising privacy.

So who is the PA 100 Pro for? It is designed for content creators handling large media files, photographers relying on CFexpress workflows, privacy-conscious users seeking alternatives to subscription-based cloud storage, and professionals who need reliable data access while on the move. It bridges the gap between high-performance NAS systems and true portability.

After evaluating traditional NAS solutions from brands such as Synology and others, one limitation becomes clear: while they perform well in fixed environments, they are not designed for mobility. The PA100 Pro changes that equation by transforming NAS into something not only powerful and secure, but also truly portable and adaptable to modern workflows.

The pre-order promotion runs from June 30 to July 15, with a special early-bird price of USD 349 (regular price: USD 399). You can view full specifications and place an order directly here: https://www.stationpc.com/products/stationpc-pa100-pro
