Netflix has been a popular source of TV shows, movies, news content and overall visual entertainment in Canada and The United States of America, followed by Denmark, Finland, and Norway. It was then launched in India around 2015.
In a land of headstrong minds and television fixated population, Netflix initially had a hard time getting a kick start in India for- the subscription costs, lack of Indian content and unavailability of a variety of shows led to quite a few Indians scoffing at this concept.

Now in 2018, Netflix has added a whopping 7 million new streaming subscribers globally. All this attributes to a strong rise in the Asian markets. A surge in the number of subscribers of South Korea, China and India have now allowed Netflix to surpass the predictions of Wall Street which claimed that there would be an addition of 5.2 million subscribers and proudly boast of a global user base of 137 million users.
Promoting local and regional content is said to be the reason behind the rising numbers of users.
Roping in all-time favourite actors of the Indian Film Industry such as Saif Ali Khan, Radhika Apte, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, Vicky Kaushal, and many more actors who have a special place in the heart of the people, in shows like- Sacred Games, Ghoul, Lust stories and many more has even led people to actually taking up a Netflix subscription to see what all the craze is about.
The folks of Asia would love to see shows in their regional languages and by casting shows of the sort, Netflix has gained attention from far and wide ends of the Asian population, thus increasing their revenue by a large margin.

Netflix has played to its strengths and used the language of the people to reach out to them.
The company’s net income has risen to $402.8 million, up from $129.6 million.
The net revenue has gone up from $2.98 billion to $4 billion in a year and has now set a target of $9.4 million by the end of 2018.
The addictive content that can be streamed worldwide, using the common people’s choice of actors and languages has played a key role in the upsurge of the net income of Netflix, giving Netflix its much-awaited capital and making it just as popular as in the Western countries.
