With the constant thrust towards digitalization, Bangalore’s Kempegowda International Airport is soon going to provide an end-to-end solution for paperless air travel.
The operator of the airport Bangalore International Airport Limited (BIAL) along with Vision-Box, a Lisbon –based biometric solutions provider, has signed an agreement to facilitate self-boarding technology.
The first implementation of this milestone will be completed by the first quarter of 2019 with Jet Airways, Air Asia, and SpiceJet already onboard.
“Your face is your boarding pass,” said BIAL’s MD & CEO Hari Marar, describing what can be termed as the revolutionary technology that is set to transform air travel.
“Vision-Box’s state-of-the-art biometric technology, combined with its passenger flow platform will enable a seamless journey for our passengers, without obstacles, waiting for lines or hassles, from registration to boarding,” Marar added.
The underpinning vision behind this step is to simplify air travel for passengers.
Through Biometric technology, passengers can be identified by their face, thereby eliminating the need for repeated checking of boarding passes, passports, and other physical documents.
The contract – between BIAL and Vision-Box – was signed on Wednesday and is certainly a step in the right direction.
