Twitter asks its employees to work remotely, Suspends non-critical business travels and events

Citing the safety of employees and partners from the recent novel coronavirus outbreak (COVID-19), the U.S. based micro-blogging company Twitter Inc. has suspended all business travel and events.

The company in its statement said, “It has halted all non-critical travel, until the World Health Organization or the Centers for Disease Control, clear companies to step back from pandemic precautionary measures, or when a coronavirus vaccine becomes available.”

Speaking on the update, Jennifer Christie, Head of Human Resources at Twitter, said, “Our goal is to reduce the risk that anyone at Twitter might contract or inadvertently spread the virus. We must take these proactive steps to protect ourselves and others and minimize the spread of COVID-19.”

“Following the government restrictions, working from home will be mandatory for all its Twitter employees who are working from Hong Kong, Japan, and South Korea offices,” she said.
