The US President Donald Trump has accused Iran of failing to allow adequate oil movement through the Strait of Hormuz and of breaching the terms of a two-week ceasefire agreement.
In a series of social media posts, Trump warned Iran against imposing a toll on vessels passing through the key maritime route, raising concerns over the stability of the fragile truce.
The Strait of Hormuz, which connects the Gulf with the Indian Ocean, was expected to reopen following the ceasefire announced earlier this week by the United States and Iran. However, shipping activity has remained limited, with only around 10 vessels reported to have passed through since the ceasefire took effect.
Tensions have escalated further after Iran indicated the possibility of introducing transit charges for ships using the route. Trump also referenced similar ideas in his statements, including the possibility of joint toll arrangements.
