The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) and Shri Khushal Das University have signed a five-year Memorandum of Understanding to expand access to skill-based education in Artificial Intelligence, Cyber Security, and Data Science for students in Rajasthan.
“The partnership will enable students to access nationally recognised programmes in areas such as AI, Cyber Security, Data Science, Internet of Things, Computer Science, Engineering, and semiconductor technologies without relocating to metro cities,” the statement reads.
The MoU was signed by Dr. Alok Tripathi, Director (Scheme and Skilling) and Chief Controller of Examinations at NIELIT, and Dr. Ramawatar Meena, Vice Chancellor of SKD University, in the presence of senior officials from both institutions.
Under the agreement, the two institutions will jointly design and deliver certification courses, faculty development programmes, workshops, and training aligned with national skill frameworks and industry requirements. NIELIT’s specialised curriculum in cyber forensics and cyber crime will also be introduced for students at the university.
“The collaboration also includes plans to establish a Centre of Excellence on campus with advanced laboratories, aimed at providing hands-on training alongside academic instruction. The partnership will further cover joint research initiatives, co-publications, student internships, industrial exposure, and participation in government-funded national and international projects, with a joint coordination committee set to oversee implementation,” the statement added.
Commenting on the development, Dr. Ramawatar Meena, Vice Chancellor of SKD University, said, “The MoU marks a significant step for the university as it brings NIELIT’s curriculum and government-backed programmes directly to students, with new courses and training initiatives expected to begin soon.”
“The partnership will help students from Rajasthan and nearby states access quality technology education locally, reducing the need to move to larger cities,” Managing Director Dinesh Juneja added.
Located at the intersection of Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana, SKD University attracts students from across the region and has been expanding its academic partnerships in recent years. The collaboration with NIELIT is expected to further strengthen its position within national higher education frameworks.
