The women-led startup ElaWoman that lists fertility doctors and clinics have raised $3 million in series A funding, as per sources. The investment for the New-Delhi based firm is led by Chiratae Ventures (formerly IDG Ventures India) alongside co-investor Alkemi Venture Partner – a healthcare-focused VC firm. This is the first ever investment for ElaWoman post the completion of its re-branding activity, earlier this year.

Bridging the gap in the healthcare ecosystem, ElaWoman’s platform connects patients with best fertility doctors, in vitro fertilization (IVF) centers, antiretroviral therapy (ART) treatment clinics, etc. Currently, the firm boasts of a wide network of five thousand plus doctors across 32 cities.

Through the fresh funding, the startup aims to enhance its technology framework and expand into other non-metro cities in India alongside preparing a blueprint for global expansion. The firm is poised for greater development with an aim to cater to the Asia-pacific region, thereby tapping into a $4 billion worth marketplace.

ElaWoman CEO Ritu Singh comments that infertility, which is a serious issue, is apparently a taboo in India that can be addressed via technology. Furthermore, the lack of proper consultancy alongside a disparate pricing model of every infertility treatment further aggravates the scenario.

“We aim to bridge this gap by building a transparent data-driven community where users can access independent and trusted advice and can connect with specialized experienced doctors specific to their fertility need,” she added further.
