MoS Satej Patil launches Kolhapur Startup Mission

In a bid to empower startups in Kolhapur and to encourage self-employment among youths. The Minister of States (MoS) and IT, Satej Patil in partnership Kolhapur Incubation Center (KIC), DY Patil Education Group, Startup Incubation, and Innovation Center, IIT Kanpur, has announced the launch of the Kolhapur Startup Mission.

The initiative was inaugurated on a virtual platform by an august panel led by renowned scientist Padma Vibhushan Dr. RA Mashelkar, Hon’ble Shri Satej D. Patil, Minister of State (Home & IT), Government of Maharashtra, Smt. Dr. Kadambari Balkawade, IAS, Municipal Commissioner, Kolhapur, and Shri Ruturaj Patil, MLA, Kolhapur South Assembly. The event was hosted by Prof. Amitabha Bandyopadhyay, PIC, Incubation and Innovation, IIT Kanpur.

“Under Kolhapur Startup Mission, selected startups & innovators will be awarded up to INR 5.0 Lakhs for implementing their technology product and services in the district of Kolhapur through Kolhapur Incubation Center and co-incubation support from SIIC IIT Kanpur with Kolhapur Incubation Center,” The statement said.

Speaking on the launch, Hon’ble Minister Satej Patil said, “Kolhapur has historically been a very enterprising city.  Through Kolhapur Startup Mission, we want to invite young startups to our city, facilitate testing of their ideas, and bring innovative solutions to the civic problems of Kolhapur through national engagement. I assure you we shall provide our full support to the blooming startups in Kolhapur & I am confident this initiative will make Kolhapur one of the top startup destinations of India.”

“Kolhapur Startup Mission is a fantastic initiative to promote innovative solutions to grassroots problems. Support from local government bodies connects to the industry plays a significant role in a startup’s success and seeing the involvement of Hon’ble Minister Satej Patil and Young MLA Ruturaj Patil, I am sure Kolhapur shall become a top destination for Indian innovators,” Dr. RA Mashelkar added.

Commenting on the launch of Kolhapur Startup Mission, Municipal Commissioner of Kolhapur, Dr. Kadambari Balkawade, said, “We are enthusiastic to work with new startups and innovators on solutions around Water, Sanitation, Waste Management, and Public Transport segment among others. We extend our full support to startups to implement their solutions in Kolhapur city & scale-up nation-wide.”

“More than just access to capital, startups need a relevant network, educational intervention, unconditional knowledge support, and mentorship. As an MLA from Kolhapur, I wholeheartedly welcome all the Innovators & entrepreneurs across the country and assure that we shall ensure to provide every support required for their growth. Kolhapur grows when our best brains grow,” Ruturaj Patil, MLA of Kolhapur (South) added.
