New Zealand’s Reserve Bank on Sunday said, “One of its data systems has been illegally accessed by unidentified hackers.”
“The third-party file sharing service used by the bank to share and store some sensitive information was illegally accessed,” New Zealand Reserve Bank in its statement said.
Speaking in the hacking, Reserve Bank Governor Adrian Orr, said, “We are working closely with the domestic and international cybersecurity experts and relevant authorities as a part of our investigation and response to this malicious attack.”
“The nature and extent of information that has been potentially accessed are still being determined but it may include some commercially and personally sensitive information,” Orr said.
“It will take time to understand the full implications of this breach and we are working closely with systems users whose information may have been accessed,” it added.
