Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) has launched a dedicated branch for startups in Chennai, aimed at providing personalized financial services and comprehensive support to emerging businesses.
Located on Anna Salai, Mount Road, the new branch seeks to facilitate the growth and development of budding entrepreneurs and emerging enterprises.
At the launch event, IOB introduced the “IOB Start-up Current Account” and the “IOB Pragati” credit scheme. These financial products are designed to support the specific needs of startups, offering tailored services to help them navigate the early stages of their business journey.
On the inaugural day, 35 startups were onboarded, highlighting the immediate impact of this new branch.
Speaking on the launch, Ajay Kumar Srivastava, MD & CEO of IOB said, “Start-ups are the cornerstone of innovation and job creation in our economy. By establishing this dedicated branch, IOB aims to remove financial obstacles and empower entrepreneurs to bring their visions to fruition. This initiative represents a crucial step towards cultivating a vibrant start-up ecosystem in India.”
The new startup branch has also entered into Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) with several premier institutes in Chennai, leveraging its strategic location.
“The launch of this start-up branch is a significant milestone in our journey to support the growth of the start-up ecosystem, aligning with the government’s promotion of entrepreneurship and startup culture. Additionally, this branch will enhance our MSME portfolio, which is a vital focus area for the bank and the country,” Srivastava added.
Additionally, IOB plans to expand its support for startups by opening five more branches dedicated to startups nationwide.
