Acting on specific intelligence, the Forest Department team in Tehsil Bhalwal intercepted and seized two vehicles transporting Khair billets and Tunu wood without valid permits. The operation was conducted in Block Manawar under the supervision of the Range Officer, Jammu, and overall guidance of the Divisional Forest Officer, Jammu.
During a late-night operation on June 15, Block Officer Manawar, Vikram Charak, along with Beat Guard Vipan Jamwal, Rajeshwar Singh, Tarun Khajuria, and Nagrota-I staff members Raiz Ahmed, Ashok Kumar, and Mohd Akbar, successfully intercepted a Maruti SX4 (JK02AM-5101) and a truck (PB06BH-2502).

Upon inspection, the vehicles were found carrying Khair billets and Tunu wood without necessary documentation, violating provisions of the Indian Forest Act. Both vehicles and the illicit timber have been taken into custody, and confiscation proceedings have been initiated as per legal protocol.
The Forest Department reiterated its commitment to protecting forest resources and urged citizens to report any illegal logging or timber transport activities. Strict enforcement remains vital to preserving ecological balance and preventing environmental degradation.
