India’s largest telecom company Bharti Airtel on Saturday announced the partnership Finnish technology giant Nokia Corp to conduct the trial of its homogeneous fronthaul solution which will support 4G, 5G and enterprise services through the common platform.
According to the GlobeNewswire report, “The trail is a part of Bharti Airtel’s strategy to make its network a future ready and to meet the growing demand for high-speed data driven by the digital revolution in India.”
Bharti Airtel CTO, Randeep Sekhon, in its statement said that “Airtel has always set the benchmark when it comes to roll-out the latest network technologies and the upgradation of the network transport are also essential to cater to the booming consumption of mobile broadband services and to enable world-class digital services.”
Randeep added, “Nokia is our longstanding partner, and we look forward to their support in our journey towards 5G.”
Talking more about the partnership, Sanjay Malik, Head of India Market at Nokia, said: “the modernization of the transport infrastructure is crucial for ensuring the ultra-high speed extremely low latency, promised by 5G.”
“As we look forward to this trail with Bharti Airtel, which is a crucial step towards preparing the 5G networks,” he added.
Malik added, “The ring architecture will help in adding resiliency to the network and ensure that the network is able to meet the ever-growing bandwidth demand of their customers.”
