Hospital chain Medanta has received Rs 100 crore from Asian Development Bank (ADB) to purchase healthcare services and medical equipment.
ADB in its statement said, “The loan will allow Medanta to purchase personal protective equipment, basic hygiene products, patient care equipment such as ventilators and beds.”
Speaking on the development, Anirudha Patil, Head of Health and Education investment at ADB’s private sector operations said, “Private sector healthcare service play a life-saving role during crises such as the COVID-19 pandemic.”
“Medanta’s proven expertise and leadership will further improve the resilience of India’s health system, enabling it to respond effectively to the current crises and further healthcare challenges,” Patil said.
Naresh Trehan, Global Health Chairman & Managing Director of Medanta said, “The financing will help us focus on increasing healthcare capacity to satisfy the strong Indian demand for both COVID-19 and non-COVID-19 related treatment.”
