With the Indian government’s constant thrust towards digitization, the introduction of e-Hospital is another feather in the cap of the initiative called Digital India. In what seemed to be a masterstroke, finally, India gets its first-ever digitized Hospital Management Information System (HMIS).
This entire framework is aimed to ease the process of making an appointment. It is achieved via an Online Registration Service (ORS). The HMIS application is hosted on the NIC cloud server and allows patients to book appointments with different departments of different hospitals.
The only prerequisite for availing e-Hospital services is an Aadhar card that simplifies the appointment process. And if a patient has one, he can seamlessly register with any hospital department by selecting the hospital and department along with the day of the appointment. The patient will be notified with an SMS post-registration.
Moreover, a detailed report of new and old patients registering with the portal can be viewed. This data can be extremely useful for hospitals in demarcating critical patients from others. All in all, e-Hospital service appears to be a noteworthy step and certainly pushes the horizons of Digital India initiatives.
