Senior Communist Party of India (CPI) leader and Ex-chief minister of Tripura, Manik Sarkar on Saturday alleged that the tribal people in Tripura are not getting the jobs as the government is providing jobs to BJP workers under MGNREGA and other government schemes.
While addressing the protest against the CAA, NRC, and NPR on Saturday, Manik Sarkar said, “There is no food, no work in the villages. Hunger and starvation have gripped rural tribal hamlets. People are forced to sell their infants due to poverty.”
“As the BJP workers and their supporters have registered themselves in MGNREGA schemes. Without doing any work they are looting all the money of the poor people in the name of work,” he added.
Continuing to the statement, Sarkar said, “They (The BJP Government) is trying to curb the rights of SC, ST, and OBC communities too and not only that they are also attacking the minority peoples by implementing CAA.”
