As the numbers of confirmed coronavirus cases are surging across the globe, registering over 75,000 infected people only in Italy, the President of the Italian Football Federation, has announced plans to open its national football training center at Coverciano, Tuscany for local authorities.

“As we’re not playing football now, and to get back to it we need to win the most important match against the coronavirus pandemic together,” he said.

Adding to the statement, Gravina said, “He has told the Mayor of Florence Dario Nardella that local authorities could use the facility just outside the city.”

“The center already hosts a unit of the local Fire Brigade… Hotels and auditoriums are now being made available for patients receiving treatment,” he said.
