India Union Budget 2026: The Indian government has reduced the customs duty rate on all dutiable goods imported for personal use from 20 percent to 10 percent, as part of efforts to simplify the tariff structure.
Presenting the Union Budget in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said basic customs duty has been fully exempted on 17 drugs and medicines to provide relief to patients, particularly those undergoing cancer treatment.
The government has also added seven more rare diseases to the exemption list, allowing duty-free personal imports of drugs, medicines, and Food for Special Medical Purposes used in their treatment
