London, UK — The United Kindom PM and Labour Party leader Keir Starmer on Thursday unveiled a series of pledges as part of his “Plan for Change,” aiming to address key challenges facing the United Kingdom.
Speaking at Pinewood Film Studios west of London, Starmer set out six “milestones” by which his party’s progress can be assessed by the time of the next general election.
The six point plan include:
- Boosting Incomes for Working People: A commitment to “put more money in the pockets of working people,” focusing on policies that enhance financial well-being for families across the country.
- Accelerating Housing and Infrastructure Projects: Plans to build 1.5 million homes and fast-track planning decisions on at least 150 major infrastructure projects to tackle the housing crisis and stimulate economic growth.
- Improving NHS Wait Times: Aiming to treat 92% of NHS patients within 18 weeks, addressing concerns over long waiting periods and healthcare accessibility.
- Enhancing Community Policing: Proposing the recruitment of 13,000 more police officers, special constables, and Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs) in neighborhood roles to strengthen public safety.
- Advancing Early Childhood Education: Ensuring that 75% of five-year-olds are school-ready, emphasizing the importance of early education and support services.
- Achieving 95% Clean Power by 2030: Setting an ambitious target for the UK to reach 95% clean energy production within the next seven years, focusing on sustainable initiatives to combat climate change.
