The Union Minister for Science and Technology, in Government on India, Harsh Vardhan on Monday said, “The Government of India is planning to generate 175 GW of clean energy by 2022.”
Speaking at the inauguration, of the National Interdisciplinary Center and the National Clean Coal Research, and Development Center at the Indian Institute of Science, the Minister, said: “We are making good progress. We are leading from the front.”
“As you all know, our Prime Minister (Narendra Modi), has sought for the 175 GW of clean energy production in the country by 2022. Of which 100 GW would be through solar and rest would be through other sources,” he added.
Further adding on the government plans for clean energy, Harsh Vardhan, said, “The country has set a target of reducing the emission of greenhouse gases between 33 percent, and 35 percent to combat climate change and global warming. So far, the country has been able to reduce it to 21 percent.”
