Agricool, a french AgriTech startup has raised $28 million, in a fresh round funding in addition to the $13 million which raised previously.
The new round funding was led by its new investors like Bpifrance Large Venture Fund, Danone Manifesto Ventures, Antoine Arnault via Marbeuf Capital, Solomon Hykes, and a dozen other business angels including its existing investors like daphni, XAnge, Henri Seydoux, and Xavier Niel via Kima Ventures.
In an email sent to TechGraph, the Agricool said that “The new round funding will help the company to confirm its role in the development of this new type of agriculture while positioning itself as a key player in the segment of vertical farm segment in France and worldwide.”
“Agricool It plans to multiply by a hundred the production by 2021, in Paris first, then internationally, starting with Dubai, where a container has already been installed for several months in The Sustainable City,” Agricool said.
Adding to this Agricool said, “the funding will also be in used to hire more than 200 people in the Paris area and from around the globe till 2021.”
“We are very excited about the idea of supporting urban farming towards massive development, and it will soon no longer be a luxury to eat exceptional fruits and vegetables in the city,” said Guillaume Fourdinier, co-founder and CEO of Agricool.
Founded in 2015, Agricool grows pesticide-free fruits and vegetables, especially strawberries inside containers by using 90% less water and nutrients and more renewable energy.
