In an effort to secure the citizen from the global outbreak of novel Coronavirus (COVID-19), the President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa on Monday declared COVID-19 as the National State of Disaster.
In a statement issued, the President said, “To manage the disease and to protect the people of the country and to reduce the effect of the virus on the society and the economy, we have now declared the COVID-19 as the National State of Disaster.”
“This will enable us to have an integrated and coordinated disaster management mechanism that will focus on preventing and reducing the outbreak of coronavirus,” the President said.
