Govt of India to hold a meeting on call drops and Fiber First, this month

Keeping the network quality as the biggest concern, “the telecom department of India is planning to hold a meeting with mobile operators by the end of this month to discuss the issue which includes quality of services,” the Official familiar with this matter said.

Speaking with the reporters at Assocham event, Telecom secretary Aruna Sundararajan said: “We will be holding a meeting with Indian telecom operator by this month to discuss the several issues including fiber first, digitalization  and many other issues.”

Talking about ‘Fiber First’, she said: “First Fist is an initiative which plans to provide fiber to home, enterprises and to key development institutions in Tier I, II and tier III towns and also in rural clusters to improve telecom networks.”

The developments have come a weeks after, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India published its Independent Drive Test (IDT) report in which it said that “Expect Reliance Jio, All the other telecom operators have failed to meet the call drop in benchmark in test drive which was conducted by sector regulator TRAI on different highways and rail routes.”
