India-settled e-wallet company MobiKwik on Friday said, “Its app was removed from the Google Play Store as it allegedly violated the app’s ads policy.”
In an interview with Gadgets360, Bipin Preet Singh, CEO of MobiKwik said, “Google removed the app from the Play Store as it has a link to the Aarogya Setu app.”
“Google gave us a warning one week ago, in which we explained that we have been asked to do this. But, today they removed the app around 3 P.M IST without any intimation,” Singh said.
“We then pursued their team and resubmitted the app after removing the link to Aarogya Setu and now they made the app live again,” he added.
Bipin Preet Singh also tweeted: “MobiKwik and other fintech companies like Paytm were instructed by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to promote the COVID-19 contact-tracing app.”
