In an attempt to secure its nationalist from the recent outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19), the Foreign Secretary in the Government of the United Kingdom, Dominic Raab on Wednesday, issued the travel advice against all non-essential international travel.
Speaking in Parliament over the measures taken by the FCO, Raab said, “The Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO) has advised against all non-essential international travel for 30 days.”
“UK travelers abroad now face widespread international border restrictions and lockdowns in various countries. The speed and range of those measures across other countries are unprecedented,” Raab said.
“I have decided to advise British nationals against all non-essential international travel,” he said.
Adding to the statement, he said, “Whether travel is essential or not is a personal decision and circumstances depend on person to person. It is for individuals to make an informed decision based on the risks and advice from FCO. Anyone who is still planning to travel should check the validity of their travel insurance.”
“The UK’s extensive diplomatic network is continuing to work around the world to help its citizens at the greatest risk of exposure to the virus. We continue to do everything to get those citizens affected by the care, support, and advice they need,” Raab told the parliament.
Further, adding to the statement, Raab said, “British nationals who become ill overseas should, in the first instance, seek care and support from the country they are in.”
