Speaking at the Reliance Industries 43rd Annual General Meeting on 15 July, Chairman of RIL, Mukesh Ambani said, “Reliance Jio has partnered with Google to develop affordable Android-based 5G smartphones in India.”
“Jio has offered 4G devices to more than 100 million feature phones to users who upgraded to Jio Phone. However, there are more than 350 million feature phone users remaining in the country and to bring them on board. Reliance will bring an entry-level 4G or even 5G smartphone for a fraction of its current cost,” he added.
Adding to the statement, Mukesh Ambani said, “Jio-Google partnership is determined to make India 2G-mukt.”
