ODEM, which is touted as the first ever company to offer On-Demand Education, has recently announced the successful activation of blockchain-powered Ethereum (ETH) smart contracts. These smart contracts will conform to the original ODEM platform.

This deployment was completed at the live SWITCH Conference in Vilnius, Lithuania by Dr. Adel Elmessiry, CTO of ODEM. The audience, mostly comprising of students, stood witness as the first ever blockchain-based educational certificate was conferred on Antanas Guoga, the Lithuanian representative to the European Parliament.

Speaking at the event Dr. Elmessiry said “Today’s activation is a powerful endorsement of our project’s technical viability. I’m really pleased with the progress we’ve achieved toward making the ODEM Platform a reality.”

The primary focus of ODEM – behind the activation of smart contracts – is to address the obstacles prevalent in the education space. Through blockchain and the underpinning encryption system, ODEM seeks to redefine the way education is looked at. This will go a long way in providing affordable, scaleble, accessible, and verified educational content to a wider section of students.
