The leading infrastructure company Larsen and Toubro (L&T) on February 18 said, “L&T Construction has secured an order from Nuclear Power Corporation of India Ltd (NPCIL) for building two units of Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project.”
L&T in its regulatory filing said, “The construction arm of L&T has secured a significant order in the nuclear sector from Nuclear Power Corporation of India (NPCIL) for its heavy civil infrastructure business in India to construct the main civil works for the Kudankulam’s 5 and 6 unit.”
“Kudankulam Nuclear Power Plant is India’s first Light water reactor (LWR) of 6 units with a generation capacity of 1,000 MWe each,” the filing said.
The scope of work includes the construction of the Reactor building, Reactor Auxiliary Building, Turbine Generator Building, and other safety-related structures in 64 months.
The company did not disclose the order value but it said, as it comes under a significant category the deal ranges between Rs 1,000 crore to Rs 2,500 crore.
L&T currently executing similar works of Kudankulam 3 & 4 units in the same premises.
