Mumbai Police Cyber Cell on Monday said, “It has detained a 21-year old engineering student from Bengaluru in connection with the BulliBai app — a GitHub app that listed photos of hundreds of Muslim women including the photos of muslim celebrities, journalists and social media influencers on sale.
The detention was made after an FIR lodged under sections 153 (A), 153 (B), 295(A), 354 D, 509, 500 and Section 60 (Of information technology act) with the South East Delhi Cyber Police and West Mumbai Cyber Police against the application creator and Twitter handles that promoted the app.
Speaking on the development, Satej Patil, Minister of State for IT in Maharashtra Govt. tweeted, “I would like to assure all the victims that we are proactively chasing the culprits & they will face the law very soon.”
