Essential Product Inc a startup founded by Android creator Andy Rubin’s has layoff 30 percent of its employees, from Sales, Marketing and Hardware Manufacturing division.

According to the Bloomberg report, the move has come several months after the company canceled its plans for manufacturing it second generation Smartphones and also stopped the manufacturing of home smart devices which was going to compete with Amazon Inc and Google.

Essential spokesperson has written in an email “This has been a difficult decision to make. We are very sorry for the impact on our colleagues who are leaving the company and are doing everything we can to help them with their future careers and We are confident that our sharpened product focus will help us deliver a truly game-changing consumer product.”

Essential Product Inc was founded in 2015 by Rubin with the total investment of $300 million, making it Silicon Valley’s most ambitious consumer-electronics startup in years
