Minister of Transportation and Highways in Central Government Nitin Gadkari has said, “The government has made Rs 100 crore by sharing vehicle details with private companies.”
Nitin Gadkari in his reply at the Rajya Sabha said, “The revenue collected by the government by providing access to Vahan and Sarthi database to private companies is Rs 1,11,38,79,757.”
“The data was provided to 170 private companies including Auto, Freight, Banks and other companies,” he said.
“There is no proposal under consideration for the government would direct the companies to delete the data accessed by the private entities,” the Economic Times in its report said.
