The Narcotics Control Bureau has advised Indian travellers to obtain the required approvals before carrying medicines while travelling to Saudi Arabia.
The advisory follows the rollout of an electronic approval system by Saudi authorities that mandates permission for medicines brought for personal use by individuals entering or departing the country.
The NCB said that several medicines commonly available in India and other jurisdictions may fall under restricted or prohibited categories in Saudi Arabia. It added that possession of medicines beyond permissible quantities could lead to regulatory action.
Travellers have also been advised to consult the official list of restricted and prohibited medicines issued by Saudi authorities before undertaking travel to avoid legal complications.
