Dubdub Ai, an India-based Ai-based audio & video dubbing platform has raised $1 Million in series seed round funding led by Waveform Ventures and Accel Atoms in participation from Slash Capital, and Force Ventures.
The round also saw involvement from marquee angel investors including Aprameya Radhakrishna (Founder, Koo), Nishant Mungali (Founder, Mindtickle), Deepak Anchala (Founder, Slintel), Swati Mohan(Ex-Head of Marketing, Netflix), Gaurav Kapur (Host and Actor), and Roshan Abbas (Actor, Director, Founder of Kommune).
“Funding raised will be invested in building technical expertise in the team, improving the platform offering, and validating several use-cases for global customers,” the startup said.
Dubdub.ai was a part of the first cohort of Atoms – a program by Accel India to support pre-seed startups with easy access to non-dilutive capital, mentorship from founders and operators, and a community to help them grow.
Speaking at the fundraise, Anubhav, Founder of Dubdub Ai said, “We want to make the most of the growing demand for localized content by automating parts of the dubbing process with AI. Our mission at Dubdub.ai is to democratize and personalize audio/video content. With our end-to-end platform, content owners and studios can get results in weeks rather than months, so that dubbing projects are completed faster. Further, it uses just a few minutes of the actors’ voices – making the dubbed version sound more authentic.”
Commenting on the investment round, Subrata Mitra, Partner at Accel Atoms said, “We’re proud to partner with the DubDub team in their mission to make traditional dubbing more efficient through state-of-the-art AI enablement. As video content is increasing exponentially and becoming more pervasive to the pan Indian user base, we strongly believe that DubDub’s product will become the norm in building inclusive content in a scalable manner.”
“With the team’s passion for the problem and their experience in building and commercializing AI-based solutions, we are also excited about the potential global impact of their product,” Mitra added.
“Dubbing has been a slow, manual and expensive process. We loved the founders’ product-first thinking to build a global tech solution out of India, to make dubbing faster & easier,” Arun Tadanki, Lead Investor at Waveform Ventures added.
Dubdub.ai localized the famous Tryst With Destiny speech by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru into multiple languages using its proprietary platform. The dubbed content was released in 7 languages on the Moj app and garnered over 300+ million views in under 3 days.
Further talking about the funding round, Shashank Shekhar, Sr. Director – Content Strategy and Operations ShareChat, and Moj said, “Our collaboration with Dubdub.ai for the historic 75th Independence Day affirms the growth and potential of localized digital content in India.”
“It was exciting to witness how through the power of AI, we were able to provide access to one of the most impactful speeches made in the modern history of India in 7 different languages to our users. Dubdub.ai is providing an opportunity to create high-quality dubbed content and assisting businesses in harnessing the power of localized content in a diverse country like India,” he added.
