“No legal route against government ban,” says TikTok

Short video platform TikTok said, “There is no plan to take legal route against the government ban, but instead will work with the government authorities and get suggestions and directives with regards to data protection and security.”

In an interview with News18, TikTok spokesperson said, “There have been some reports about TikTok is considering to take legal route against the government ban.”

“We would clear that there is no plan to pursue legal action regarding the directive by the Government of India,” the spokesperson said.

“We’re committed to working with the government to address its concerns, We comply with the laws and regulations of the Government of India. Ensuring the data sovereignty, security, and privacy of our users has always been and will continue to be a top priority for us,” the spokesperson said.

Earlier this month the Government of India announced the ban on 59 Chinese apps including TikTok, WeChat, UC News, and others on the ground of data privacy.
